Petition Time

The proposed ban on the import, sale and manufacture of swords will have an adverse effect on legitimate practitioners, collectors and manufacturers. Actual sword related crime is very rare and does not warrant a ban that affects the cultural activities of thousands of legitimate martial artists, collectors and smiths. Current legislation is quite adequate to deal with violent crime connected with bladed weapons. New legislation is merely for show. Enforcing such a ban will also affect cultural events such as Scottish Sword Dancing and many Sikh festivals. We urge the PM to reconsider this knee jerk reaction to media influenced scaremongering.

MA Dvd’s

Well I finally got around to finding all the dvd’s and cd’s I have scattered about the place, and put them all in the same place, nicely stored in a metal dvd box…

Now they all in one place I realise I have no where near as many as I thought I had. Either that or I have not yet found them all…

Ah well back to work…

The Weekend That Was! (brief review)

[Friday]
The weekend kicked off by popping round to ammos  and for a lovely meal, and cake (of which I still have one small bit left.). and a night of socialising and taking the piss out of the American TV program we were watching…

[Saturday]
Had a meeting with some friends to discuss a website they want doing. and to get enough information to make a start. Then out for a few drinks (But not too may due to training the following day)

[Sunday]
All Day Training Seminar (KenJutsu).  Then Out for a curry with the dojo in the evening as a belated xmas do..

UPDATE: Holiday & Life

Well today I am slightly less physically/emotionally/mentally shattered, And starting to feel more like my old self…

I put it down to a training session that was basically some tai chi, ba gua, and a talk on spiritual stuff, and random spiritual stuff…

Anyway..
I went to Spain. It was Hot, and way too sunny for my liking…
I drank too much, ate too much (But did try some new foods), soaked in the local culture, and the cute Spanish dancers. And overall tried to avoid the big burny thing in the sky (I was not overly successful as my arms and face are more skin colored than normal), and other such normal holiday stuff…

And then….

Shit happened!!!!
On the day before I was due to come home, I received a phone call informing my my Nian (Grandmother) had died. Got home to find out some black sheep’s of the family had been fighting over her possessions as her body lay there waiting to be removed. One of my nephews tripped into some broken glass, and had to spend Monday in hospital for x-rays and stitches, and then my sister was involved in a car crash, possibly totaling my mothers car that she was driving at the time….

Great 4 days…….

So there you have it!!!

The Weekend

Not done a weekend review for a while, so here goes.
Saturday
Saturday was spent shopping, or traipsing around way too many shops, trying to find a pair of clip-on sunglasses that did not look stupid, or at least fitted. I failed miserably at this simple task, so reconciled myself by going out for some drinks in the evening. Ok that did not help with the need for sunglasses, but it takes the edge off :0)
Sunday
Sunday was mainly spent training. (OK, I lie).
Well, I had a lie in, so got up, dressed, grabbed a quick breakfast and it was time to go to the dojo. Where I expected to be for the normal 4/5 hours of training/grading we normally do. But instead we had just an hours training, then straight onto the gradings, and we finished several hours before we would normally do. So it was argued since we were supposed to be busy until 5, that there was nothing wrong with ignoring stuff that needed doing, and a trip to the pub was in order :0)
So that wasted time for a bit, then off to ‘s for a coffee and a chat to for a bit, and off home, where i did nothing for a bit before watching a film, and crashing out of the sofa.

Stepping Inside a Horror Film.

Its an old story, we have all seen it in a horror film, or read it in a book, or even heard it while telling ghost stories in a group. Someone’s driving along a country lane late at night, when the car’s headlights reveal a body on the road. The body is not moving. The driver of the car gets out to check on the body, only to find out that its some maniac.

If you were in the story, would you have stopped to offer help to the injured person? Or would you have driven past, possibly leaving an innocent person to die at the side of the road?

Well I now know my answer to this question, for it happened to me last night. I had gone to a kind of house warming/social gathering of sorts, then on the way home after a short detour to drop off a friend at his place, I proceeded home about 2am.

After l had left the main roads, and was traveling along country lanes, the lights of my car illuminated a body curled up at the side of the road. It was just lying there unmoving, and there was no houses, building in the area, and a bit out the way for anyone to be walking around at that time of night.

So I pulled over before the body, and decided what to do, it was not an easy choice, years of watching horror movies, and reading the books, coupled with training to be wary of suspicious circumstances telling me to drive on and pretend I saw nothing. And on the other side I had common decency in wanting to check the guy was alright and not in need of help.

In the end decency won out, and I got out the car to check on them, Ok, there was a knife in my pocket and I was ready to slam it into their chest had they made any offensive looking moves. As it was my caution was not needed, the guy was just drunk and lost, so had decided to sleep where he was, and find his way home in the morning. So I pointed him in the right direction, and continued on my way, happy in the knowledge that when the moment required it, I did the right thing!!
