X-Files

14 years after the show ended,  and 7 years after the film They have made a 10th season of the show.

Now pay attention Hollywood!

Not a reboot,

Not a remake!

But a continuation, building off what has already been done.

Because of this new season, I have been re-watching the original season (way back from 1993) and I have noticed two interesting things.

1:

The technology is so primitive, The “advanced” technology the government has in the show, seems to be just a few steps up from chisels & slates. Yet I am sure when I last watched it, way back in 93 I was impressed with the technology. And lets just gloss right over the outfits & hairstyles of the time.

2:

Each episode consists of Mulder & Scully investigating an X-File. Mulder believes from the beginning, while Scully is the sceptic. And together they solve the mystery. BUT! once or twice an episode, Scully will go to make a phone call, go home, go to a lab to run tests, basically leave the area. As soon as she is gone, Mulder will witness something “supernatural” like a UFO, A lizard man, Alien Abductions, some weirdness.  Then when the “close encounter” is over and everything’s back to normal, Scully will come running up looking for Mulder.

Now I ask you. Where have we seen this behaviour before?

Clark Kent running off to phone for help, and as soon as he is out of sight Superman arrives to save the day. Then the day being saved, Superman flies off and Clark returns from “getting help”.

How about Peter Parker, running away, running for help, being trapped and Spider-Man turning up to do his thing. Then after Spidey leaves, Peter is found/returns.

We know..

Clark Kent = Superman

Peter Parker = Spider-Man

So following Sci-Fi Logic

Dana Scully = All supernatural events! or a shape-shifter. (Martian-Manhunter?)

Basically. I suspect it is all her! that is the way the evidence points!!!!

Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot.

Remember-Remember-v-for-vendettaRemember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot… But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes and I know, in 1605, he attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I’ve seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them… but you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it, or hold it… ideas do not bleed, they do not feel pain, they do not love…

And now I have to re-watch V for Vendetta!

RIP Leonard Nimoy

Growing up watching Star Trek, my two favorite characters were Spock & Scotty. The Scientist and the Engineer. It’s sad that we have now lost Spock, who showed a generation that Brains and Intelligence were powerful and worthy traits.

It show’s how loved a character and actor he was, that when they decided to reboot Star Trek, and have a whole new cast of actors playing the characters in a different way. Leonard Nimoy’s Spock still made an appearance, because even though the universe of Original Trek no longer existed, Nimoy was so loved his character survived it.

So where ever you are now Mr Nimoy, know you still exist in the minds & hearts of your fans,

I may never have been lucky enough to meet him in real life, but to quote the man himself.

“I have been . . . and always shall be . . .your friend.”

Live Long and Prosper

Final Tweet

We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most….human.

Wrexham Gets Super Prison

So it’s been announced today that Wrexham has “WON” and we are to get the UK’s first Massive Super Prison. This is a similar “Winning” to when you go to get checked out at the VD clinic and “WIN” a course of treatment.

Wrexham as a town has been declining for a while, there are almost as many closed shops as there are open ones, and there are barley enough stalls in the three Indoor markets to actually fill one.

On top of all this, with a spate of bad press and none flattering headlines, several campaigns have started to try and change Wrexham for the better, and improve public opinion.

All of this is now Pointless, since with the Super Prison coming to Wrexham, public opinion will just associate the Name Wrexham with Prison. So Wrexham is doomed. UNLESS

I heard a rumour that because Wrexham is already mostly closing down, and has a poor public reputation, that they were just going to build a big wall around Wrexham. I believe the Prison architects cited Case studies of “NewYork” “L.A.” “Arkham Asylum” as good examples of a cheap easy way to build a super Prison.

In related news Paramount Pictures to start work on a new Snake Plissken film.

Star Wars 35th Anniversary

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….

35 Years ago TODAY a sci-fi film hit the cinemas, and blasted off into the cultural history of the whole planet. That simple low budget film has since spawned TWO sequels,  THREE prequels, An Animated film, An Animated TV Series, A Live action TV Series in planning, Countless dozens of Books, Comics, Computer Games, Not to mention all the Toys, Outfits, Etc. There is even a RELIGION based on this film. And hopefully soon WORKING LIGHTSABERS

Who knew these simple characters would affect generations of people from all walks of life, Hell I think this film franchise could help world peace. I think all peace negotiators should before sitting the different parities down to try and fix issues should say “What about that JarJar Binks. Most annoying creation ever?” and then sit back to watch the parties who have not agreed on anything in Milena both nod and concur.

Even if you are not a fan you have to be impressed by just how massive and long lived this simple story has become. I think this weekend I will try and watch the films again (Or at least watch them over the next week, and in the best order. 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6)

I think you should now go to StarWars.com and watch the ORIGINAL film trailer from 35 years ago.

May the Force be with you!
