Stepping Inside a Horror Film.

Its an old story, we have all seen it in a horror film, or read it in a book, or even heard it while telling ghost stories in a group. Someone’s driving along a country lane late at night, when the car’s headlights reveal a body on the road. The body is not moving. The driver of the car gets out to check on the body, only to find out that its some maniac.

If you were in the story, would you have stopped to offer help to the injured person? Or would you have driven past, possibly leaving an innocent person to die at the side of the road?

Well I now know my answer to this question, for it happened to me last night. I had gone to a kind of house warming/social gathering of sorts, then on the way home after a short detour to drop off a friend at his place, I proceeded home about 2am.

After l had left the main roads, and was traveling along country lanes, the lights of my car illuminated a body curled up at the side of the road. It was just lying there unmoving, and there was no houses, building in the area, and a bit out the way for anyone to be walking around at that time of night.

So I pulled over before the body, and decided what to do, it was not an easy choice, years of watching horror movies, and reading the books, coupled with training to be wary of suspicious circumstances telling me to drive on and pretend I saw nothing. And on the other side I had common decency in wanting to check the guy was alright and not in need of help.

In the end decency won out, and I got out the car to check on them, Ok, there was a knife in my pocket and I was ready to slam it into their chest had they made any offensive looking moves. As it was my caution was not needed, the guy was just drunk and lost, so had decided to sleep where he was, and find his way home in the morning. So I pointed him in the right direction, and continued on my way, happy in the knowledge that when the moment required it, I did the right thing!!

Weekend: Sun, Smashing & Sun Inn

I think the summer is finally here, last weekend was great, Hot, Sunny, and just the right temperature, and just a small amount of rain on the Sunday evening. Then Monday was torrential rain, fog, storms, which looked to be continuing this morning. But no, The suns out, its hot (Damn hot in the office!!) and looks nice.

So updates and stuff.
The Weekend.
Saturday was spent helping to move some rubble, and help make a start removing a greenhouse, and the junk stored round the back of it. Including 2 cast iron, old style baths with the lion claw feet and such. I may be a lazy person, but on hot sunny day I sometimes enjoy doing a bit of physical work. Two things were learnt during this time.

  1. Cast Iron Baths are very heavy! And two people can not carry them from round the back of a greenhouse, down a narrow path and get them into a high sided trailer.
  2. Cast Iron Baths are tough, and will withstand being smashed with hammers of various sizes, and use of lump hammer and coal chisel, but explode nicely when confronted by an idiot with a sledgehammer.

So after a day out in the sun, what better way to spend the evening than sitting in a beer garden drinking cold beer.

Sunday, what did I do Sunday? Err can’t remember, oh that was it, I spent the day in llangollen, checking out the large book shop, then a quick dinner down by the river, Then a walk up into the hills to sit and read while admiring the view.

The Weekend.

Saturday of the Stag

Well with plans finally discovered we all met up at the paintballing area at 12:30, so by 1 we were all geared up and ready to go. Ammunition was purchased, and guns loaded, and we set out for 6 games. Due to small numbers of people on the stag do, we played with the rest of the people there, and were randomly placed into teams based on odd/even numbers. It was a good day, with my team winning 3-nil over the 6 games. Unfortunately for the Stag he was on the other team, so lost :0)

I do kind of feel bad for him, since I was supposed to be on his team but switched sides so I had the chance of shooting him, and I did manage to clear out the fort on the “Capture the fort” Game, and I captured the flag on the last game of the day, even though I had run out of ammunition..

[A SHORT PAUSE IN THE STAG OCCURRED FOR THE STAG TO RECOVER AND TREAT HIS WOUNDS]

Then It was a meetup in a pub for some drinks before ending the night with a curry. Hopefully had a good night, to commiserate the end of his freedom… Then after a quick stop off to watch Doctor Who, it was time to return home.

The shoeing was post-poned till a time when it will not ruin the stags night.

Sunday of Sun
Sunday was very hot and sunny, The summer must be here at last. The downside of this was the light blaring through the curtains waking me up about 3 hours after I’d finally got to bed. So the chance of sleep gone for the day, I decided to go up the horseshoe pass for a coffee and to enjoy the view. Then continue down to cefn and a nice walk along the canal, and other such stuff to waste away the day in the sun.

Well just one more week left and this month is over, And I can have a relaxing month. with nothing planned. Just got 2 birthdays, a wedding, doctors appointment, 3 nights training, and a grading day left this month.

Brewery + Pissup = How Hard

I have had to take a step back and look at some of my previous posts. And on further reflection I am maybe not as badly organised as I had previously assumed. For there are some out there a LOT worse..

As an example.
A few weeks back an email was sent out by a “best man” asking for willing precipitants on a stag do, which was to be a paintballing event, unfortunately the notice was very short and numbers were low. But never mind still plenty of time to reschedule..

A week or so later another email arrives. same message different date, so replies were sent asking for more details. Nothing… The next day Nothing… The next day Nothing…. The Next day Nothing…. Then as if someone was prodding them with a big stick an email arrives (the day before the actual stag event… Talk about cutting it close) with details. Well with a time and a place for the paintballing. But no mention of the food, drink afterward’s. In fact no details at all.

Now paintballing is basically crawling about in the woods. so you are going to get dirty, muddy, paint splattered even with overalls on. so you cant really go out dressed like that. so a change of outfit is probably needed, but what kind.. is it a nightclub drink where decent gear is needed. or quiet pub where jeans are acceptable.

Now the questions have been emailed back to the organiser, but judging by previous responses (non existant) the answers will never be known.

So, I’m not that bad after all

To make it worse the bloke in for a shoeing has pulled out so the hunt is off. and the shoes must be stored till the next time he’s seen…

MeMe MeMe

This is not one of the meme test’s that seem to be popular on LiveJournal, but is more along the lines of (and i’m quoting Bart Simpson here)

I can’t stand this any longer.
Somebody please pay attention to me!
Hello, pay attention to me!
Look at me!
I’m Wayne, I’m Wayne!
Look at me, look at me, look at me!

Just thought I should shout out for attention since I am apparently just an attention seeker.

But take a second to think about this. Everyone with a LJ account must be a bit egotistical, after all you have signed up for a place on the internet where you can post your thought, your views, your opinions, you test scores (?), and any other trivial part of your life for others to read. This you must admit is not the actions of someone avoiding the publicity..

Then you get the LJ users who seem to like going around and starting arguments all over the place over trivial things, in more of an attempt to shout ME ME ME ME louder than everyone else for attention. Yet when you actual stand up to these idiots and point out any errors/mistakes/lies they have made they get annoyed, argue pointless back that everyone else is wrong because the rest of the world thinks different, then when they run out of arguments they result into childish name calling, and throwing their toys out the pram. And accuse the other person of attention seeking!

There are some messed up people out there, and most of them have Livejournal accounts.

Answers to the Question.

On tuesday I asked a question. A simple question I thought, one which would result in say a half dozen posts. I was shocked and surprised by the response (56 posts so far).

So I thought I would post what I have found out.

  1. Apparently tie brides come with guarantees
  2. Its wrong to keep people in box’s/jars/etc like (bonsai kittens)
  3. Some people have way too much time on their hands
  4. Some people like to argue for the sake of arguing
  5. Its wrong to copy a small bit of information from an internet posting that several dozen people have access to. But its ok to post a private conversation between two people on the internet for anyone to read..
