Goodreads Reading Challenge (2013/14)

It is the start of a new year which means it is time for me to set up my Goodreads reading challenge for 2014. But first a update on 2013’s effort.

I started 2013 with a goal of reading 50 books in the year (The number was suggested to be as a good goal, and it was a good goal as I read 60 books in 2012)

In July I reached my 51st book, and had to up the goal to 100 books.

At the end of the 2013 I had read 105 of the 100 books (105%)

2013-goodreadsWhich I am counting as a double win because the original challenge was 50 books, and 100 = 2×50. So in 2013 I won the reading challenge twice!!

for 2014 I am going to start off with a goal of 60 books, which you may think is a bit low since i clocked up over 100 in 2013, but I have a load of rather big books I want to read this year which will take a lot longer to read.

12 in 12 – Month3

Another month has gone by, and so it is time to look back and see how I am doing. Yes, I know technically this post was written in the future and back-dated to when it should have been. It’s not my fault, it’s all the fault of the EvilGothGnome.

1: Blog Post’s: Write at least one post a week for the whole year.

Well there was four weeks in March and according to the “Posts” tab in that time there was Six posts, slightly down from last month. So I guess that fills that requirement.

8: Data Management: Sort out all my electronic data.

I Now have one 1.5Tb external hard drive attached to my NAS that is fully organised. Time to move onto the next disk.

12: New Things: Do/Try at least one new thing every month.

What new things Did I do in Mar? I went to my first “Welsh Night” in a Lodge, and took part in one of the 1st Lectures (Which was also the first time I had seen any of the Lectures)

12 in 12 – Month2

Another month has gone by, and so it is time to look back and see how I am doing. Yes, I know technically this post was written in the future and back-dated to when it should have been. It’s not my fault, it’s all the fault of the EvilGothGnome.

1: Blog Post’s: Write at least one post a week for the whole year.

Well there was four weeks in Febuary and according to the “Posts” tab in that time there was Ten posts. So I guess that fills that requirement.

8: Data Management: Sort out all my electronic data.

I started organising my data into one place so I can go through it and start getting organised. I have also started shrinking my media collection to reclaim Gigs & Gigs of space :o)

12: New Things: Do/Try at least one new thing every month.

What new things Did I do in Feb? I was the Master of a lodge for the first time (My First Meeting)

12 in 12 – Month1

Greetings. Well I guess if I intend to stick to this 12 in 12 challenge I really should keep track of how I am doing. Or I will just wait until the end of December and just go “I did stuff!! go me!!!” So I will try and keep a running check on what and how I am doing.

So here is the update for January.

1: Blog Post’s: Write at least one post a week for the whole year.

There was four weeks in January, and I posted four times, SO I am on track with this challenge.
4: Published: Get myself Published.

Not really done much work on this one, except to install and try out some new writing software that is designed to make it easier to write & format ebooks.

7: Weight Loss: Lose some weight.

Well Since Jan 1st I have lost a couple of pounds, and as such I am counting them as work towards this one. The plan to actually loose weight starts this month.

12: New Things: Do/Try at least one new thing every month.

New things. What did I do in January that I have never done before.

I responded on behalf of the Visitors for the first time ever (Thanks P&C)

I also attended a Burns night for the first time, with the piper and the haggis and the works. So thats technically two new things, lets see if I can keep it up.

Happy New Year

Greetings Dear Constant Reader, welcome to 2012.

Its a brand new year, a new beginning, and many people around the world are making Resolutions for the new year.

This year I will not be making any, for a very good reason. I am crap at sticking to them! I will admit it, I make some at the start of every year, and most of the time I do not take them further than making them, or at the very best I will stick to them for a month.

You have to agree this is a bit “pointless” So while I am crap at sticking to resolutions, I have noticed I am more steadfast when it comes to challenges. So this year instead of making any “New Years Resolutions ” I am setting myself a “12 in 12” Challenge. That’s 12 things I must complete/achieve/do in the 12 months of 2011.

As of this moment in time I only have a few picked, and there are spaces for more. So feel free to comment any suggestions.
