This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series NaNoWriMo 2010

Its NaNoWriMo update time again.

R:You realise its Tuesday Right? The update posts are on a Monday!

GN:Yes I know its Tuesday. But its also the last day of November. So instead of doing the normal Monday update, and then another end of month post on Tuesday, So i’ve decided to combine them.

R:OK. that seems fair, if not a bit lazy!

GN:Why do I hear your questions in my mind as if they are read out by the Comic Book Guy from the Simpson’s?

R:My guess would be, because you’ve been listening to Wil Wheatons ‘Just a Geek’ and in his FAQ section he does the CBG’s voice when he reads questions that are patronising or stupid.

GN: At least I’m not going insane then

R: well I wouldn’t say that

So anyway, update time. I’ve not done as much as I would have liked, and as such you could say I failed this years NaNoWriMO. You may say that, but I would not, since this year I have done the most number of words than I have at any other attempt. So I am claiming this as a victory. “Yeh Go ME!

bluebeanie2009 Monday Tuesday, November 30th is the third fourth annual “International Blue Beanie Day

Q: What is it all about?

A: Its in support of Web Standards, To try and convince all the big boys to agree on a standard and keep to it. Lets get code working the same no matter what OS, Browser you are using.

Q: Why a Blue Beanie?

A: Well the Cover of “Designing with Web Standards” by Jeffrey Zeldman (Who started Blue beanie day) has a blue beanie on it. Yup its that simple.

Q: What should I do?

A: Here I will simply quote Mr Zeldman.

It’s easy to show your support for web design done right. Beg, borrow, or buy a Blue Beanie (or Blue Toque in Canada) and snap a photo of your mug wearing the blue. (Or get creative with Photoshop). Then on November 30, switch your profile picture in Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, (and any other social network) and post your photo to the Flickr Blue Beanie Day 2009 group.

Next Steps

1. Make a personal commitment to fight Web Standards apathy. Show solidarity with the Standardistas on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010.
2. Buy, beg, or borrow a Blue Beanie (blue hat or cap, even a black or grey one will do in a pinch.)
3. Take a photo of yourself wearing the Blue Beanie. Or take a cool group photo of you and your friends wearing Blue Beanies.
4. Post your photo, or photos to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and other social networks on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010. Remember to switch your Facebook profile photo that day, too!.
5. Start by inviting all your friends to the Facebook Event for Blue Beanie Day 2010.
6. Promote Blue Beanie Day on your blog, wiki, facebook page, twitter tweets — telling all your friends to get ready for Blue Beanie Day.

Yes I know this is a duplicate of last years post, but We had burst pipes in the Insane Asylum, and I’ve been helping with the clean up, and wading through ice cold water, and deep snow in a pair of trainers. My feet are now ice and I have no feeling in them, so decided on a shortcut post.
