1st into the office.
Slightly later than otherwise would have been (Not had to use my keys for a while, so it took a while to find where I had put them)

But I don’t like it… Its too quiet with the building empty, even the music doesnt really hit the silence…

Come in People!!!!

Which is a Lie, or more of a catchy subject to grab your attention.

Right theres a plan, or an idea, or an idea of a plan. Who is to say?

basically go HERE and read ‘s post, then follow the instructions. Lets all pull together and make the world a slightly better place this winter!

Quick synopsis..
If you would like to volunteer to do this, just leave a comment on this entry. she’ll then reply to your comment with the name, address, suggested message, and any other information you need to know (like whether the card must be non-religious). You just add that person to your Christmas card list, and post it with all your others (postage should be 50p, but possibly check at post office)

The second thing She’s asking, is for people to put an entry in their journal, directing people to this one (it’s not friends-locked so anyone can participate).”

Clark Gable
You scored 50% Tough, 49% Roguish, 29% Friendly, and 73% Charming!
You’re a helluva guy, a real split personality and a bit of an enigma. On the one hand, you’re a man’s man, tough talking and ready for anything. But on the other hand, you soften your rough and tumble core with a disarmingly smooth exterior, and you make the ladies swoon. You’re equally admired by both men and women alike, drinking other men under the table all the while charming the socks off half a dozen lovelies. You’re a commanding presence, and you know how to get what – and who – you want when you want it. You’re drawn to women who, like you, are savvy enough to deal with the world on their own terms. You work well with spitfires. Leading ladies include Joan Crawford, Myrna Loy, and Jean Harlow. No damsels in distress for you.
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

MEME: What Tarot Card are You?

You are The Magician

Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.

Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.

The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man – either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.

You have to love the great welsh weather system.

This morning when I left to drive to work, it was cold, and actually snowing. Ok, it was more sleet than snow, but still the first snow of winter…

And now, the sun is shining and its Hot!!!

Ah Well back to work..

Weekend Review

Nov20

Well I’ve not done a weekend review for a while, or any post really. So here goes, highlights from the weekend!
Friday
Went to see “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” Now i am not really a fan of Sacha Baron Cohen, and in honesty i was only going along with the majority vote. But i’m glad i did, because i enjoyed myself, been a while since i saw a film where i laughed out loud in the cinema. But maybe it was the beer :0)

Saturday
Well as normal the morning was spent training, bit of plinking, bit of thuding, bit of coffeejutsu, normal stuff really. Till the slight heart palputations bit when after picking up the bits I had not seen from my current grade the instructor asks “you ok with your grade now?” so we say “yes, just got to practice and master it now” where he says “you have a week?” MEEP!!!! luckily it was a slight mistake and i have the month i thought i had…

And some quiet drinks in the local village with some old school friends. Who did in fact look Old, they looked much older than me, they must have had a hard life?

Sunday
Nice relaxing day, mainly due to it being too cold and wet to do anything, or go anywhere, and I felt the oncoming of a cold… Well that was the plan, which failed miserably, when at 5pm i spotted one dog sat miserably on the drive and the other one wandering about on the road, After getting the dog in from the road, I discovered the reason the other dog had not escaped as well was during his attempt he’d got a large bramble branch wrapped up in his hair, locking his two back legs together with his tail.. Which meant a fight to try and free him, then a search about for the hole in the hedge they were using to escape, and a repair job in the freezing cold rain! Bloody dogs..

Work Rant!

you have to love customers who think they are better, cleverer, more skillful than yourself. Although you have to ask yourself the question “If they are better than me, why are they paying me to do this work?

just had several emails from a client.. asking for something to be changed on their system so it works with their new code better. the emails go on for ages, explaining how their stuff is better and more complicated so we should change our stuff, and using lots of big posh, technical words. They even told me which file i need to change, which part of the file, and gave me some suggested code to help me out..

$allow_extensions = join(‘|’, array(‘txt’));
if( !preg_match(‘#.*?\.(‘ . $allow_extensions . ‘)#si’, $filename) )

its probably taken him hours researching the problem, looking up the words in the dictionary, coming up with their solution, sending me all these details…

And how do i fix it.. i change * to *.txt in the code. 1 minutes work….

Muppets…

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae (1872 – 1918)
