Mind Kill

The Five Count Box Set, is a nice simple pattern to learn. Its good for warming up with, It looks impressive and can be used with a variety of weapons without much of a mindkill.

  1. Stick
  2. Sword
  3. Machete
  4. Knife
  5. Open hand
  6. Han-Bo

But once you master them and are happy with it, then it should get easier. That is until you start playing about with ideas, and get into the conversation with your fencing instructor “Humm! I wonder if you could do the 5 count box set with a Bo” after all, there is not much difference between a small stick and a 6foot staff.

We’ve been working on the pattern for a week now, and have got it almost flowing smoothly, but its still in the mind killing stage.

So after spending an hour working on it tonight, what do we go and do to relax. Help someone set up a wireless, shared internet network in their house.

After many problems with getting a laptop to talk to the rest of the computers, and trying every configuration setting we could find, we discovered (Thanks to a quick phone call to a work colleague) that some laptops say their wireless is activated, and working but they are lying. You have to turn them on, even though they say they are on.

How many mind kills can you fit into one day…. :0)

Ah well..
That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger!!

Come on The Snow.

The BBC are saying and i quote…

Wales prepares for arctic blast

Large parts of Wales are preparing for the first snow of winter, with warnings of up to 15cm (5in) in some areas and blizzards in upland regions.

North, west and mid Wales are likely to be most affected on Thursday night and Friday morning.

BBC Wales weather presenter Derek Brockway said snow would fall across Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire on Friday morning.

He added that parts of the north and west could wake up a to a “good covering” of snow on Friday, with further hail and snow showers likely during the day.

Hopefully they will have got it right, and I can work from home tomorrow, and get a nice lie in!

Ok, if it snows bad and people get snowed in I have been threatened by that I will get a slapping for wanting the snow, but I figure a slap will be worth the lie in…

“Intellectually” Intelligent

You’re ‘Intellectually Intelligent.’ That pretty much means that you’re good with theoretical ideas and concepts – but this comes to you naturally. More or less, you’re a natural brainiac. Good for you.

20% theoretical intelligence
100% natural intelligence

Mondays Morning Blues

Nov21

Mondays are great, not only do you have to go back to work after a weekend off, but there a law that states, “If something can go wrong, then the chances of it going wrong double on a monday morning

At some point over the weekend something tripped the electric to the offices (possibly my monitor breaking since this morning it was as dead as a dead thing!), so we had the fun of rebooting machines, several of which developed annoying noises until kicked repeatedly.

Now we just have the cold to deal with. The offices are freezing, in a coat wearing, door closing, radiator hugging level of coldness.

Why can’t we just hibernate over the winter?

Or at least let the snow hurry up and get here, deep snow that closes the mountain passes, and lets us work from home!

This is not one of the meme test’s that seem to be popular on LiveJournal, but is more along the lines of (and i’m quoting Bart Simpson here)

I can’t stand this any longer.
Somebody please pay attention to me!
Hello, pay attention to me!
Look at me!
I’m Wayne, I’m Wayne!
Look at me, look at me, look at me!

Just thought I should shout out for attention since I am apparently just an attention seeker.

But take a second to think about this. Everyone with a LJ account must be a bit egotistical, after all you have signed up for a place on the internet where you can post your thought, your views, your opinions, you test scores (?), and any other trivial part of your life for others to read. This you must admit is not the actions of someone avoiding the publicity..

Then you get the LJ users who seem to like going around and starting arguments all over the place over trivial things, in more of an attempt to shout ME ME ME ME louder than everyone else for attention. Yet when you actual stand up to these idiots and point out any errors/mistakes/lies they have made they get annoyed, argue pointless back that everyone else is wrong because the rest of the world thinks different, then when they run out of arguments they result into childish name calling, and throwing their toys out the pram. And accuse the other person of attention seeking!

There are some messed up people out there, and most of them have Livejournal accounts.

Everyone knows the old saying : -
“It’s like waiting for a bus. You wait for ages then three come along at the same time”

Well I’m curious, and waiting for the third (things always come in three’s).

To the best of my knowledge no one has ever tried “fitting” me up with someone, Yet last Saturday I was asked by ammos if it was ok to fit me up with her sister (I think she tried selling me her sister first).

And today another friend has decided to try and “fit” me up with a friend of his gf’s.

So now i’m just waiting for the Third..

(And to see how much trouble we’re in for the information we requested!)

Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of the oldest surviving holidays, its origins going back thousands of years. Hundreds of years ago in what is now Great Britain and Northern France, lived the Celts (A friendly bunch of People). The Celts were Nature Worshippers, and had many different gods, The Sun God being one of the most common ones, since the sun dictated when they would work, rest and play. The Celtic New Year was on November 1st. It was celebrated every year with a festival and marked the end of the “season of the sun” and the beginning of “the season of darkness and cold.”

On October 31st after the crops were all harvested and stored for the long winter the cooking fires in the homes would be extinguished. The Druids, the Celtic priests, would meet and light new fires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals. As they danced around the the fires, the season of the sun passed and the season of darkness would begin.

When the morning arrived the Druids would give an ember from their fires to each family who would then take them home to start new cooking fires. These fires would keep the homes warm and free from evil spirits.

The November 1st festival was called Samhain (pronounced “sow-en”). The festival would last for 3 days. Many people would parade in costumes made from the skins and heads of their animals. This festival would become the first Halloween.

By some small quirk of fate, the 3 day festival has significant meaning to me, As I was born at some point during the 3 days (oct 31/Nov 2) I’m not sure when, so I tend to celebrate for the 3 days, And class the middle (Nov 1) as my birthday..

So Happy Halloween, Merry New Year, Happy Samhain, and any other greeting you wish!!!
